On the back of a  record-breaking, chart-topping summer, ‘Thinking Out Loud’  singer Ed Sheeran has announced the biggest show of his career at Wembley Stadium in 2015.

Solo performers rarely play the huge outdoor stadium and his performance for an 80,000 crowd next year will be the only venue he plays in Europe for 2015.

Sheeran wil play his first ever stadium headline show at 10 July 2015 as part of his world tour to support his triple platinum album X. It will be the singer’s first show since his sold out UK tour (where he played to 275,000 people in 21 arenas).

“I’ve made no secret recently of my ambition to play Wembley Stadium on my own in front of 80,000 people, so I am absolutely over the moon to be able to announce it’s going to happen next Summer,” he said.  “It’s going to be amazing, I just can’t wait.’’

Tickets for Ed Sheeran at Wembley Stadium are on pre sale on 26 November at 9am and then on sale to the general public from 9am 28 November.

Sheeran’s X spent eight weeks at the top of the charts this summer. Such is his prowess at selling albums that Warner Bros recently announced Sheeran will be in charge of his own record imprint.

For those looking to catch Sheeran live before Christmas, he will also be appearing at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball at London’s O2 Arena this December alongside Taylor Swift and Take That.

The full list of tour dates are as follows:

Sat 6 December 2014 – LONDON O2 Arena
Sun 7 December 2014 – LONDON O2 Arena
