There had been fears that her commitments to BBC1 talent show The Voice would have prevented her from taking part as the artists – including One Direction and Coldplay’s Chris Martin – assembled in London.

Rita Ora has now arranged to rush to the recording studio acrossing to MarkMeets.com as work begins on the track in the morning, allowing her to head off and make it to continue working on the programme in Salford later in the day.

Earlier this week Bob Geldof told how he had hoped she would take part, but her involvement with auditions for the talent show meant she was not free to attend the studio session in London’s Notting Hill.

However the BBC said it would work to try and allow her to contribute and she is now heading back to London this evening after her commitments at the TV auditions, enabling her to join the other stars who are also expected to include U2’s Bono, Emeli Sande, Elbow and Bastille.

They are to make a new recording of Do They Know It’s Christmas?, marking the 30th anniversary of the song which was originally put together with an all-star cast to help raise funds to help with famine relief in Ethiopia.

The production team will be working against the clock to get the track completed in time for its first public performance during Sunday night’s edition of The X Factor.

The new version, which will be released on Monday, is expected to raise millions to ease Africa’s Ebola crisis.

Geldof has said of the track: “It really doesn’t matter if you don’t like this song. It really doesn’t matter if you don’t like the artists, it really doesn’t matter if it turns out to be a lousy recording – what you have to do is buy this thing.”
